What I believe

What I believe about SEO and AI search.

Where the people I learn from agree, where they split, and where I land. Each one has a status, because some of these I'm still testing.

Is SEO dead because of AI search?

Agree

Ranking #1 doesn’t pay like it used to. Every person I follow agrees on that much. People read the AI answer and never click through anymore.

Split

How fast to move budget into AI-specific work. Some say do it now. Some say wait, the data isn’t solid enough yet.

My call

I build the SEO foundation first, every single time. It’s never wasted work. I only add the AI-search layer once that foundation can actually hold it up.

Does ranking #1 still matter?

Agree

Most searches now end without a single click. A number one ranking with nothing worth clicking for is close to worthless.

Split

Whether rank still matters at all, or only citations do now.

My call

Rank still wins the searches where someone’s ready to buy. For research-stage questions, getting quoted by AI matters more than the spot you hold.

What actually gets a brand mentioned by AI?

Agree

Structured data, the same facts everywhere, real mentions from other sites. Not keyword volume.

Split

How much weight schema markup deserves compared to just writing clearly.

My call

Schema is the minimum, not the advantage. What actually moves the needle is saying the same true thing about your business everywhere it shows up.

Does content need to be long to rank?

Agree

Length by itself has never been the ranking factor people think it is.

Split

Whether “helpful content” systems reward depth, or reward getting to the point.

My call

Answer the actual question in the first two sentences. Everything after that is for the reader who wants more, not for the algorithm.

Is local SEO just smaller-scale national SEO?

Agree

The mechanics, a Google Business Profile, reviews, local citations, are genuinely different from ranking a national site.

Split

How much of the usual content and authority playbook still transfers down to a single location.

My call

Nine locations taught me local is its own discipline. Get the profile right first. Content comes second, not the other way round.

07TestingSep 2026

Do customer reviews actually affect AI answers?

Agree

Consistent, real reviews are one of the clearest trust signals both Google and AI systems can check.

Split

Whether star rating or how recent the reviews are matters more.

My call

Consistency beats volume. Ten reviews that agree with what’s on your website beat a hundred that contradict it.

Should a small business chase every AI platform separately?

Agree

Nobody has the time to hand-optimize for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews as separate jobs.

Split

Whether these platforms are different enough to need their own strategy, or whether they mostly reward the same underlying signals.

My call

Fix the foundation once. Most engines reward it the same way. I don’t run a “ChatGPT strategy” next to a separate “Perplexity strategy.”

Does design actually matter for SEO?

Agree

Page experience affects both rankings and whether the visit turns into money.

Split

How much weight Google gives design specifically, versus just speed and clarity.

My call

A page that’s slow, cluttered, or confusing loses the sale even sitting at #1. I fix the ranking and the page, not just one.

Is “brand” just a buzzword in SEO now?

Agree

Ranking without any brand recognition behind it is getting harder to turn into money as more searches end without a click.

Split

Whether building a brand is an SEO’s job at all, or a separate marketing function.

My call

If nobody searches your name, no algorithm update saves you. Building something people remember and repeat is part of the job now.

Send me your URL.

I’ll tell you what Google and AI actually see when they look at Your Brand, and what I’d fix first.

No obligation. If we’re a good fit, we’ll plan the next step together. If not, the findings are still yours to keep.
